Goodnewspaper: The 2023 Helpers Edition

One of the founding elements of the Goodnewspaper is our collective admiration of Fred Rogers, who is famously quoted as saying, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

While Rogers’ mother wasn’t specific about what these Helpers would look like — to us, Helpers are simply our neighbors and friends with the tools and talents to care for one another every day.

That’s why every year we create the Helpers Edition of the Goodnewspaper. This annual issue is a special one, and this year, we celebrated Helpers who:

🪧 Made a difference for labor rights

🌍 Protected the planet

🏳️‍⚧️ Stood up for trans and LGBTQ+ youth

📱 Made a difference through technology

➕ and so much more.

As you read the stories of Helpers doing each of these things (and so many more) in The Helpers Edition, we hope it’s both a resource to celebrate some of 2023’s most commendable Helpers — and a reminder to become one yourself.
